Influences

This is a trusted, well-woven rope that always belays my assents, whose gentle pull assists me:

Books:

The Collected Fictions of Jorge Luis Borges - Genre-bending non-traditional story structure that still manages to work as narrative?  One of the books I try to read every year

A Game of Thrones and the rest of the Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin - A community of three-dimentional, active protagonists whose motivations range from the herioc to the perverse, with religious and political commentary, zombies and dragons?  And each chapter is told from a different character’s perspective? For real? For real.

The Illiad, The Odyssey, The Aeneid: translations by Robert Fagles - Fagles manages the impossible in his translations: juggling readability and the power of the original poetry.  If you can’t read Greek, it’s okay.  Fagles has your back.
